Bokful is in beta, and these terms are a draft
Bokful is in beta. This document is a draft: it will change before launch and after it, and the numbered clauses below are not final.The facts here about data are true of the live system today, checked against the code rather than copied from a template. It is the wording that may change, not what actually happens to your data.By using Bokful during the beta you accept the service as it is. To the fullest extent the law allows, Bokful accepts no responsibility for loss arising from the beta service, from a booking made through it, or from the conduct of a business on it, until a final version of this document is published and accepted.Nothing in this notice removes a right that cannot be excluded: liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, liability for fraud, and your non-excludable statutory consumer rights. The liability section below carries the same list.The intellectual property and acceptable use section of the Terms of Service is not a draft either. It binds everyone who opens an account, from today.
The short version
A summary, not the agreement
- Strictly necessary cookies keep you signed in. Without them the platform cannot work.
- Google Analytics loads on the live site on every visit. There is no consent gate.
- Your theme preference is kept in your browser, not in a cookie, and never reaches us.
- No advertising cookies, and no cross-site tracking.

What we set, and why
Two things, and one of them, analytics, loads without asking. That is stated here rather than glossed.
- Strictly necessary: the sign-in session and its refresh token, set by Supabase, the authentication service behind Bokful, on the bokful.com domain. Without them you cannot sign in or stay signed in.
- Analytics: Google Analytics 4, which counts page views so we can find what is broken. It sets _ga and _ga_ cookies holding a randomly generated device identifier, for up to two years.
- Where analytics runs: bokful.com, www.bokful.com and our staging site dev.bokful.com, and nowhere else. A preview deployment and a developer’s machine send nothing.
- Not a cookie, but worth naming: your light or dark theme preference is kept in your browser’s local storage under the key "theme". It never leaves your device and is never sent to us. Clear your browser data and Bokful follows your operating system’s appearance setting again.

What we do not set
No advertising cookies, no cross-site tracking, no data brokered to anyone.
Bokful runs no advertising pixels of its own and does not sell or share cookie data for another company’s advertising. What Google Analytics receives is the page address with its query string stripped back to an allowlist, so a booking link’s token is never sent, and nothing that identifies you by name, email or phone number is ever attached to an event.

What you can control today
There is no cookie banner, so analytics loads on your first visit. Your browser is the control, and this notice is updated the day that changes.
3.1
No consent mechanism exists: analytics loads with the page, there is no in-product switch and no footer control that turns it off. Describing one here would be the easiest thing to write and the wrong thing to publish.
3.2
Your browser can block or clear cookies, and Google publishes a browser add-on that opts you out of Google Analytics on every site. Blocking the strictly necessary cookies will stop you signing in.
3.3
If a consent gate is built, accepting and rejecting non-essential cookies will be equally easy, nothing will be pre-ticked, and this notice is updated the day it ships. It is not promised for a date, because it is not built.

This notice is part of the Privacy Policy.
Cookies are personal data when they identify a device, so everything in the Privacy Policy applies to them too: the legal bases, the retention, your rights and the complaint route.
